What’s Inside the Book?

Oliver at Your Service tells the heartwarming story of Oliver, a real-life service dog, and the special bond he shares with his owner. When Oliver’s owner is feeling sad, he’s ready to help! With his wagging tail and big heart, Oliver sets out to brighten her day the best way he knows how. Will his paws-itively clever ideas be enough to make her smile again? Join Oliver on a touching adventure filled with love, empathy, and a few fun surprises along the way!

This engaging picture book is written for children ages 3–8 and highlights the vital role service dogs play in supporting people with disabilities—many of which are invisible. With themes of kindness, emotional awareness, and inclusion, Oliver at Your Service offers a gentle way to start meaningful conversations with young readers about the world around them.

Created by two educators who understand the power of storytelling in learning, this book is a perfect addition to classrooms, libraries, and family reading time. It supports social-emotional learning, disability awareness, and helps young children grow in understanding and compassion. We’re proud to share Oliver’s story and hope it inspires readers to see the extraordinary in everyone.

A great way to introduce children to the concept of service animals and how they help people not just with difficulties that we can see but with difficulties that may not be so apparent.

You can’t help but fall in love with Oliver. This sweet story introduces children to one of the many ways that a service dog can assist people. Oliver and his determination to keep his owner happy is both heartwarming and humorous. The illustrations are just adorable. Wait till you see Oliver’s ‘puppy eyes’.

About The Authors

Christine Leoni and Jennifer Puckett

Christine Leoni has loved books since childhood, a passion that led her to earn a master’s degree in Reading and Language Arts from Florida State University. She was inspired to write after recognizing a need for a children’s book that helps young readers understand emotions, the different types of service dogs, and the people who rely on them.

Jennifer Puckett is also a Florida State University alumna with degrees in Elementary Education and Reading and Language Arts. She spent 30 years as an elementary school teacher, sharing countless stories with her students and witnessing firsthand the power of a great book to foster understanding and connection. After retiring from teaching, she wanted to continue inspiring children through literature in a new way.

Lifelong friends, Christine and Jennifer teamed up to write Oliver at Your Service, a book that helps children understand that everyone experiences emotions differently-and sometimes, a helping hand (or paw) makes all the difference.
